Terminal System Updates
Daily Maintenance Window Updates:
Every day, between 12:00am and 12:30, all Washington state lottery terminals receive conditional updates. These daily updates are separate from the ESMM and Terminal updates that require broadcast downloads, however, still impact what’s being displayed. As part of the Daily Maintenance Window, the following updates are sent to the terminals:
- Updated Jackpots for Draw Games
- Enabling of Instant Games for sale, based off Launch Date
- Winner Awareness Information (who or how much was recently won in the state or region)

ESMM Broadcasts:
- These broadcasts are intended to update ESMM UI content, such as Attract Shows, Banners, and Animated Display Cards.
- During ESMM Broadcasts, Instant Game content (Game images, purchase screens, info screens) are also downloaded.
- ESMM Broadcasts are typically sent to terminals once monthly.
Software Batch Updates:
- Batch Updates are intended to change system functionality or core system operations.
- In any given year, it is typical for there to be two or three system updates requiring Batch Updates.

Out of Stock Prevention
- Utilize the Scratch Ticket Sales Tracking Sheet to keep and accurate and current inventory of ‘Received’ and ‘Activated’ Scratch tickets.

Scratch_Ticket_Sales_Sheet.xlsx - ‘Received’ tickets, not yet for sale, should be stored in a secure location.
- Packs should only be placed in ‘Activate’ status when they are ready to be sold.
- Sell scratch tickets in descending order to simplify tracking (i.e. 199-000).
- Inventory of Tickets out for sale (packs in ‘Activated’ status) should be accounted for after each shift. Reports should include the game number, and last ticket number sold from each bin.
- All tickets that have been validated and paid-out should be kept with the printed terminal receipt during each shift for daily accounting reconciliation.
