Instant Validations

Eligible Instant Tickets may be validated (cashed out) by any NC Lottery Retailer.
Ensure there is enough cash on-hand to pay out any validated ticket – under $600.
Confirm that the ticket is a winner via terminal prior to paying.

Validating Tickets

Use the following procedure to validate tickets:

Scan the barcode using the barcode scanner.
OR
Manually enter the Ticket Number (12-digits on the back of the ticket under the lottery barcode), Serial Number (8-digits on the front of the ticket under the latex), and enter the security number (4 digits underlined under the latex) using the numeric keypad.
Touch Send.
The terminal will display one of the following messages:
- If the ticket is not a winner, the screen will display “Not a Winner”.
- If the winning ticket prize is under $50, it will automatically be validated
- If the winning ticket prize is over $50, but less than $600, the terminal will display a confirmation screen.
-Touch Yes to proceed or Touch No if you cannot pay the prize.
- If the winning ticket prize is over $600, return the original ticket with a claim for to the player and instruct the player to claim the ticket at a Lottery Claim Center.
Note: A receipt will print automatically.
Touch OK to return to the home screen.
