Remember, even if a minor is with a parent, it is still illegal for a minor to purchase lottery tickets in person or from a machine.

The Hoosier Lottery provides a key fob device so that you can shut down the self-service vending machine in your store to prevent underage sales.

If you suspect a minor is trying to purchase or cash in lottery tickets or if you witness adults sharing lottery tickets with a minor:

• Utilize the Hoosier Lottery-provided key fob device to shut down self-service vending machines:

• Press the Roman numeral “1” on the remote control to Activate the underage shut down.

  • To reactivate the terminal, press the Roman numeral “1” again.

• Ask for ID and use the “Born By” date on the terminal

• Explain that it is illegal to sell lottery tickets to minors

•
